McKenna Martin
Financial Planning Resident
McKenna is Bluestem’s newest Financial Planning Resident with the goal of learning how to navigate the financial planning process and build meaningful client relationships in a way that best serves each client. She plans to take her CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ exam in November and, after completing the two-year residency program, earn her CFP ® certification.
Unlike much of the Bluestem team, McKenna was born and raised in Southeast Texas and earned her Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance with a minor in Financial Planning at Texas A&M University. During her time there, she was heavily involved in financial planning student organizations and participated in a variety of competitions representing Texas A&M. Through those experiences, as well as a significant personal challenge, she developed a strong desire to help guide clients though both financial hardships and life’s broader challenges.
McKenna is excited to begin her career at Bluestem, where she can continue developing her technical expertise and learn the foundations of building long-lasting client relationships. She is passionate about making financial planning both approachable and empowering, and looks forward to helping clients navigate the good and the bad of their financial health.
Outside of work, McKenna’s passion for helping others continues. She currently holds a Texas EMT-B license and is working to transfer her certification to Illinois so she can continue serving her community as a volunteer EMT. When she’s not working or volunteering, McKenna enjoys spending time with her cat, Onion Powder, and exploring her new home in Central Illinois.
